School uniform

We have attempted to keep our school uniform requirements as simple as possible.  You are able to read our school uniform policy on our Policies, Forms and Instructions webpage.   We also ensure that our uniform include items sold by most stockists of children’s clothes.  Our logoed uniform can be purchased from:

  • Beat School Uniform, 67 Hermitage Road, Hitchin.

Reception uniform requirements

Learning in Reception is very active and the uniform has been selected to ensure comfort and practicality.  All Reception children are expected to wear uniform with the school colours (logo optional).  All children will be expected to wear:

  • Blue polo shirt (logo optional)
  • Maroon sweatshirt or maroon cardigan (logo optional)
  • Black jogging trousers (no sports logos)
  • Black cotton rugby style shorts (no sports logos)
  • Black, dark grey or white socks
  • Black trainers or school shoes

PE kit

As the children will be wearing clothes that are suitable for PE they will not require a separate PE kit. However we do ask that children who wear school shoes keep a pair of trainers in school for outdoor PE lessons.

Please be aware that the learning in Reception is ‘hands on’ and so you may find that your child comes home dirty/messy every day.  This is a good sign!  This means that your child has been doing good learning.

Spare uniform

Due to health and safety reasons we do not have spare underwear and socks in school, therefore it is essential that every child has these additional items in school at all times (not just in case of accidents but also in case they get wet whilst playing in the water tray or fall over when it is wet outside etc).

Outdoor clothing

Learning in Reception takes place inside and outside. The children are encouraged to take part in activities outside regardless of the weather, therefore all children require a named pair of wellies that can be kept at school for the duration of the year.  These are stored on the outside welly racks.  In cold and wet weather please also ensure that your child comes to school wearing a suitable waterproof coat.  We provide waterproof trousers when required.
