Miss Jones is our PE Subject Lead

We develop the physical, social and emotional well-being of our students. We aim for pupils who are physically active and can flourish in a range of different physical activities. Our curriculum is engaging and challenging and allows all students to achieve beyond their expectations. We offer excellent opportunities to develop a healthy life-long love of physical activity and to develop a high quality teaching and learning environment where both staff and students enjoy working hard together to achieve success.

Subject Leader Action Plan

At Mary Exton, we aim for our curriculum to be engaging and challenging and allows all students to achieve beyond their expectations through high quality teaching and learning.  To achieve this, we have a clearly sequenced progressive curriculum plan starting with early years matched to National Curriculum objectives, and half termly medium term plans which clearly show the key steps of learning taught across the year.

At Mary Exton, we aim to develop pupils who will be physically active and can flourish in a range of different physical activities.  To achieve this, all year groups have access to a broad PE curriculum which builds on skills, knowledge and understanding taught in previous years including progression in Dance, Gymnastics, Athletics, Games, OAA, Health & Wellbeing, and Swimming.

All children in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 are timetabled to receive two hourly sessions a week.  Reception receive one session a week, plus daily planned opportunities for physical development within the classroom environment.  Year 3 participate in a weekly swimming session for two and a half terms, and Year 6 participate in a 6 weekly swimming session during the summer term.
