We provide pupils with the knowledge, understanding, attitudes, values and skills they need in order to reach their potential as individuals and within the community. Pupils take part in a wide range of activities and experiences across and beyond the curriculum. They learn to recognise their own worth, work well with others and become increasingly responsible for their own learning. They reflect on their experiences and understand how they are developing personally and socially, tackling many of the spiritual, moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up. They learn to respect diversity and differences so that they can go on to form the effective, fulfilling relationships as they grow.

Includes understanding friendship, family and other relationships, conflict resolution and communication skills |

Includes Sex and Relationship Education in the context of looking at and managing change |
All of our classes from Reception to Year 6 have weekly 1 hour PSHE lessons. Plus additional lessons if needed. These are supported by assemblies and specialist days/ weeks. We also recognise, as with academic subjects, that some pupils may benefit from pastoral interventions. These interventions include:
Bright Stars - Small group pastoral intervention to develop self-confidence, high levels of self-esteem and growth mindset. It is a game-based, fun intervention to help children be proud of who they are and what they achieve. This intervention is offered to children within KS1.
Stepping Stones - Small group pastoral intervention to develop self-confidence, high levels of self-esteem and growth mindset. It is a fun intervention to help children be proud of who they are and what they achieve. They are helped to recognize what they find difficult and teaches strategies for overcoming problems. This intervention is offered to children within KS2.
Theraplay - This is a specialist intervention designed to develop increased trust and positive relationships with others. This intervention is offered to children across the whole school age range.
Social stories - This is a support tool used for children who experience social communication issues often associated with speech and language difficulties and autism. This intervention is offered to children across the whole school age range.
Circle of friends - This is a specialist intervention for children struggling with severe friendship issues. It is an conducted over an intensive time frame and helps to nurture positive friendships with the help of children from their own cohort. This intervention is offered to children from Year 2 upwards.
